Selko Emissions

Category 3
Selko Emissions

Category 3 is an extension of your Scope 1 and 2 emissions—it captures the upstream emissions from producing the fuels and energy you consume. Examples include extraction and refining of fuels, and transmission losses in electricity grids. For simplicity, Selko calculates these emissions based on your Scope 1 and 2 data using well-to-tank (WTT) and transmission loss factors.

Emission Factor Methods

Tier 1
Supplier-specific

Actual upstream data from energy suppliers

Tier 2
Average-data

Standard WTT and T&D loss factors for electricity and emission based proxies for other fuels

Methods range from primary data (left) to modeled estimates (right)
